We are pleased to announce that Gabby Foy from Mt. Blue High School has committed to play women's basketball at CM next year. Gabby who was a 4-year starter in basketball averaged 15.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.7 steals per game during her career at Mt. Blue. She was also named a 2-time KVAC 1st Team All-Star, an MBR All-Star, a Maine McDonald's Senior All-Star, a KVAC Senior All-Star, a Bangor Daily News All-State Honorable Mention selection, and a Morning Sentinel / Kennebec Journal 2nd Team All-Star. Gabby also won the KVAC Senior 3-point shooting contest.
Gabby, who was also a 3-year varsity soccer player, also made the Mt. Blue Honor Roll three times, and earned high honors this year.
There were several factors that impacted Gabby's decision to attend CM. "I chose CMCC because I was uncertain of what I wanted to study and CM gives you a good foundation for education, and gives you many options to pursue," she said. "When I met with the teachers I could tell that they genuinely cared about the students. I could feel that I was not just another student or a number in a lecture hall, but another person they are trying to help succeed."
"What interested me the most about playing basketball at CM is that I knew Coach Morong through many years of playing AAU basketball, so I knew that he would push me in basketball and on the academic side as well. He really cares about his players even once they leave the program."
On competing at the next level…
"I see myself contributing at CM through my intensity and my ability to be a team player. I like to win as much as any other player and I will do whatever the team needs me to do to get the win."
"Gabby is a big time player who will see the floor immediately for us. She has an offensive repertoire that very few posses and has really developed an outstanding all-around game. The best part… I think Gabby is just scratching the surface – I am very excited to watch her grow, on and off the court, during her time at CM."
