On Thursday the Lady Mustangs traveled down to Franklin, MA to take on NJCAA-member, Dean College. Dean jumped out early on CM taking an 8-0 lead early on. The Bulldogs extended their lead to 18-points in the 1st half, before the Lady Mustangs cut the lead down to 6 with 2-minutes left to go in the half. Dean ended the half on a 5-0 run to take a 41-30 lead into halftime. Foul trouble and cold shooting stymied CM throughout the opening half.
Dean started the 2nd half with a quick 4-0 surge to balloon the lead to 15, but the Lady Mustangs responded with a 16-0 run to take a 1-point lead. Defensive pressure from Susie French and Maggie McConkey powered CM's run, as did the solid shooting of Ariel McConkey.
After a timeout, Dean responded with a 16-3 run of their own to take the lead for good. The Bulldogs pulled out a hard fought 74-60 win over CM. For the game CM shot a dismal 26.9% from the floor.
Leading the Mustangs was Susie French who tallied 22 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 6 steals and 3 blocks, while shooting 8-15 from the floor. Maggie Sabine ripped down a monstrous 16 rebounds to go with her 11 points, her 13th double-double of the season.
CM drops to 16-4 overall and remains a league best 11-0 in the Yankee Conference. The Lady Mustangs will be back in action as they take in in-state rival, the University of Maine at Machias, Sunday at 12:00pm.
