Mustangs rally falls short

Augusta, ME -  The Mustangs traveled to face the Thomas College Terriers for their first game of the semester. The Mustangs started out very strong and were able to control the puck possession and create offensive opportunities. Crewz Berry was able to create a turnover and give the Mustangs a well-deserved 1-0 lead. The Terriers would respond on the powerplay and make it 1-1 ending the First period. '' One of our best periods in terms of having confidence with the puck and making plays,'' said Coach Knoren

The second period was a tough one for the Mustangs as they were stuck in their own zone and flat footed. Thomas would convert on another powerplay goal making it 2-1. The Mustangs would then find their legs and create on-man rushes, but they would be unable to beat the Thomas goaltender. ''Creating offense is one thing, but you have to be able to convert the chances which is something we didn't do enough off tonight,'' said Coach Knoren

The third period the Terriers would explode for 3 goals making it 5-1. However the Mustangs would find heart and never give up resulting in scoring 3 goals in the last 6 minutes making it a 1 goal deficit. With the Goal tender pulled for the extra attacker the Mustangs would find Cody Ivey backdoor, but the shoulder of the goaltender would end the night resulting in a 5-4 loss. "We loved the passion to keep going, and it showed what can happen when you believe in each other. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to send it to over-time,'' said the coaching staff.
