Hanover, NH- The Mustangs were able to establish great zone time and momentum in the first ten minutes, but it was Dartmouth College who lit the lamp in the first period to make it a 1-0 game. Dartmouth ended up putting the Mustangs on their heels and won puck battles where it matters most in front of the net. The Mustangs would end up dropping the game 9-1. '' The first ten minutes of the game showed what we can do as a team when we commit to fore-checking and pressuring their defense to create turnovers,'' Said Coach Knoren.
''The beginning of the year our focus was really to create speed and catch the opponent flat footed. Lots of our players grew up playing more of a dump and chase style hockey but as coaching staff, we fully believe that we can be more of a quick transition team entering the zone with speed. As a coaching staff we understand this is going to take time and we will be implementing some changes before our next game,'' Said Coach Knoren.
Dartmouth College improved their league record to 2-0, '' Give Dartmouth credit, they are a competitive hockey team who outworked us and is coming off a 16-0-2 record the year prior to covid; they understand what it takes to win at this level.''
The Mustangs are back in action for a regular season match-up against New Haven on Sunday at 4.10 p.m. @ Norway Savings Bank Arena. '' The good thing is we are early in the season and bright spot in the line-up has been Crewz Berry-- a late addition to the mustang squad. Crewz has been leading by example the moment he stepped in to our locker-room. He understands the game and wins his battles all over the ice he takes pride and loves the game hockey. We believe in our guys and have 100% confidence that we will respond come Sunday afternoon.'' Knoren added.
