Henniker, NH- The Mustangs traveled down for a non-league game to face a strong New England College squad Saturday-- who was loaded with five division 3 players. Both teams didn't disappoint as extra time was needed before the Mustangs would end up falling 5-4.
It was an afternoon of firsts for the Mustangs as Anthonin Picard and Spencer Berube notched their first collegiate goals. "Antonin and Spencer have been great for us in their year; seeing them get rewarded is great," said Coach Knoren. Good things happen when you go to the net. Cody Ivey would continue his strong play notching two goals and assisting the contest. "Cody can put the puck in the net as he has proven, but it is the little things he does without the puck that are even more noticeable," said captain Riley Lavoie. Lavoie, Crewz Berry, Charles (Frenchy) Campagna, and Jonah Bird all contributed with an assist.
The Mustangs would take the lead with 1:30 left in the third period but couldn't hang on. "In these non-league games, it is important that you learn and grow as a team. You have to take care of the puck in the D-zone and close out the game," said coach Knoren
The Mustang will be an action and ready to on Monday night as the face Bates Coleg at 8pm a the Lewison Collisee.
