Mustangs Nip Falcons on the Road 4-2

Presque Isle, ME - Central Maine Community College had their first away game of the season Saturday against Northern Maine Community College. The game was under the lights in Presque Isle. The Mustangs controlled the game until Northern Maine capitalized on their first good opportunity twenty minutes in, giving them a 1-0 lead. Northern Maine's celebration was short lived as Shane Hurdle for Central Maine took on three defenders and tied the game just three minutes later. With about four minutes before half time Hurdle received a through ball from Abdikadir Ahmed and scored on a breakaway giving the Mustangs a 2-1 lead. The second half also included Shane Hurdle.  Hurdle scored his third goal of the match thanks to a pass from Osman Bashir. With six minutes left in the game Hurdle was fouled in the penalty area allowing Hilowle Aden to score his first goal of the season with a successful penalty shot. Central Maine goalkeeper Jon Caron fouled a Northern Maine attacker in the process of playing a loose ball and Northern Maine was also awarded a penalty shot which brought the final score to 4-2 in favor of the Mustangs. Caron accumulated eleven saves in goal. Abdinoor Hassan played well in the midfield for Central Maine while Jeff Wierzbicki and Hilowle Aden were essential defensive players shutting down the Northern Maine offence.
