Coach Gonyea wondered what effect the winter break would have on his Mustangs. His squad hadn't played a game since December 16th and had only practiced for the last four days. Three different Mustangs hit the first six 3's of the game to ease his fears. Captain Justin Cocroft began the game knocking down two 3's and the first half shooting parade was on.
CM shot 47% from the field in the first half to take a commanding 40-26 lead to the lockerroom. The shell shocked Jon Abbott team gathered themselves at halftime and came out and cut the lead to single digits in the second half but couldn't sustain the hot Mustangs. CM pulled out the win, 62-59.
Five Mustangs reached double figures: Samson Oleyami had 14 points and 5 rebounds; Brandon Giguere (8 rebounds) and Jalen Lincoln each had 11 points and Ismail Rios (7 rebounds) and Justin Cocroft chipped in with 10 points each. The win increases the Mustang's record to 12-7. The team hosts Kings College from New York this Friday at 7pm.
