Three games in three days proved to be a bit much for the Mustangs, as Berkeley College (NJ) defeated CM 75-64 in the final game of the SMCC Tip-Off Classic in South Portland. Trailing by only 3 at the half, the Mustangs found a bit of a rut in the second half.
Raw emotion and hard work carried the squad for most of the second half as CM continued to chip away at the Berkeley lead. The Mustangs cut the lead down to single digits with 2-minutes remaining, but did not have the gas to keep their run alive. Daryl Wilson came off the bench and provided a much needed spark and finished with a game high 15 points. Ismail Rios contributed 13 points and Samson Olayemi chipped in with 12 points.
With the loss, the Mustangs now sit at 2-3 on the year and look to bounce back in their conference opener on Tuesday when they hit the road to take on Unity College.
