Mustangs Run Laps Around Tigers, 86-59

Auburn, ME – CMCC Men's Basketball increased its winning streak to four straight games to start November, after an 86-59 victory over Roxbury Community College. The Mustangs led by as many as 33 and got points from all 14 players who appeared in the game. Khaden Moore finished tied for a team-high 17 points with freshman guard Luke Jamieson, who set a new career high.

Central Maine set the tone on their opening possession when Creighty Dickson hit a three-pointer. After an opening exchange of baskets left the score tied at 7-7, the Mustangs went on a 37-7 run over the next 14 minutes of the first half.

Moore was 6-for-7 from the floor in the opening 20 minutes to lead the charge with help from Dickson (eight) and Keiontay Marsh (seven). CMCC went into the locker room up 49-22 and shooting an impressive 62.5% from the field.

In the second half, head coach Dave Gonyea went to his bench, working more players into the game. E.J. Carter buried a three on his first possession after subbing in and Ayden Jefferson facilitated the offense as point guard. But the biggest impact came from Jamieson. The first-year from Auckland, New Zealand drained three triples in three minutes after coming on. He followed that up with two more in the final five minutes. His two free throws with 7:03 remaining got the lead to its largest margin, up 75-42.

J.T. Pound and Javion Jacobs followed behind Dickson and Marsh with six points each. The Mustangs outrebounded the Tigers 36-27 and forced 13 turnovers compared to committing seven. The hosts also ended the game shooting 34-for-66 (51.5%). Jaylin Jasmin paced the visitors with a game-high 20 points while Gabriel Correia joined him in double figures with 12.

CMCC next returns to conference play with a visit from Great Bay CC on Veterans Day, November 11th at 8:00 pm. The game comes on Military Appreciation night with all veterans and active military personnel getting in free.
