Auburn, ME – Central Maine Community College has appointed a new head coach of its Women's Ice Hockey program, with Doug Dieuveuil tabbed to lead the team heading into the 2025-26 season.
"I am pleased Coach Dieuveuil has accepted the head coaching position of our women's hockey team," CMCC Athletic Director Dave Gonyea said. "Coach Knoren did double duty last year and led the team through its inaugural year. Coach Dieuveuil brings quality experience to the program and comes from a culture of winning. We look forward to a great year on the ice."
The Veazie, ME native was most recently the head coach of the Cony boys hockey co-op team, being named the 2023-24 Class B North Coach of the Year after guiding the Rams to a 14-6-0 record, their first winning season and MPA Class B playoff victory in seven years. Before that, Dieuveuil had stops as an assistant coach with the Winslow/Gardiner/Waterville high school co-op team, and as a youth hockey coach with the Maine Jr Black Bears and the Capital City Vipers in Pennsylvania.
"I am honored that Athletic Director Gonyea has given me the opportunity to coach this group of ladies," said Dieuveuil. "I am excited to see what ways they can grow both on and off the ice. I also look forward to working closely with Coach Knoren, as he has laid a solid foundation for the women's team to grow and has already developed a competitive men's program at CMCC. This is another opportunity to grow the sport of ice hockey and show young women around the state and New England region that there is another level to strive for after high school. I would like to thank my daughter, family, co-workers, and friends for their support as I continue working to be the best coach and mentor I can be."
A former goaltender at John Bapst Memorial High School, Dieuveuil went on to play defensive lineman and kicker for the Husson University football squad. He also suited up for the Eagles former club hockey team, playing against ACHA opposition. He is currently an Assistant Class Dean at Bowdoin College and was previously the Associate Dean of Student Success at KVCC.
The Mustangs women's hockey team finished its inaugural 2024-25 campaign with a 7-5-0 record, picking up impressive wins against the UMaine, Dartmouth, and Bates College IWCHL club teams. Dieuveuil takes over the reins of the second-year Mustangs team from Jordy Knoren, who remains the head coach of CMCC's Men's Ice Hockey team and the Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the Fitness Center.
CMCC is still recruiting for the upcoming 2025-26 hockey season. Any student-athletes interested in learning more about the program can visit cmmustangs.com/information/recruiting/wice_recruit to submit their info to coach Dieuveuil.
