Cape Elizabeth, ME – CMCC Golf finished runner-up to rival Southern Maine at the SMCC Invitational hosted at Purpoodock Golf Club. The Seawolves were dominant on the afternoon, having both their A and B team squads finish ahead of the rest of the field of Yankee Small College Conference opponents.
Brian Bilodeau led the Mustangs efforts with a team-best round of 75, shooting a +4 on the tough 18-hole course. That was good enough to place him tied for fourth overall. Will Routhier carded an impressive 79 (+8) to finish in seventh place. Bryson Mattox wasn't too far behind with an 81 (+10) that was good enough to tie for ninth. Dustin Farrington tied for 30th with a 101 (+30) and Gavin Lenahan in 32nd with a 103 (+32) rounded out the Central Maine efforts.
Those top four scores gave CMCC a team score of 336. The SMCC "A" team took the top spot with 306 thanks to Will Farschon's best individual score of 72 (+1) and Drew Goulet 74 (+3), Matt Quigley 75 (+4), Chris Keene 85 (+14), and Tuck Walker 86 (+15). The Seawolves "B" squad posted a 327 overall tally with Dan Aguado tying for second individually at 74 (+3), Brandon Chilton 80 (+9), Alex Watts 84 (+13), Anthony Signore 89 (+18), Ben Farschon 91 (+20), and Russell Dalton 98 (+27).
UMaine-Augusta took third place with a score of 340 ahead of NHTI in fourth (364), Kennebec Valley (376), Paul Smith's (388), and Great Bay (419). Golfers from Washington County also took part though the Golden Eagles did not have enough for a full team score.
Central Maine returns to the course next weekend for two tournaments hosted by NHTI and Great Bay to finish off the regular season ahead of the YSCC Championship on October 5th.
