Auburn, ME - Devona Kinsey (New Britain, CT) of the Sport & Medical Sciences Academy (SMSA) of Hartford, CT has committed to join the Lady Mustangs this fall. Kinsey also plays AAU for the CT Heat.
Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, on Kinsey, "Devona is a tremendous facilitator, and although she would rather be setting teammates up, she has the ability to score in multiple ways. She is going to add some much needed depth to our point guard rotation, which will allow us to play two in any given rotation, much like we did this past year with Nicole Hamblin and Kristina Blais. We have watched her play for her high school and AAU teams, and she is incredibly consistent. Devona fits what we do here, on and off the court, and will be a valuable member of our program, college, and community."
According to Kinsey, "My plan was always to go to a community college, so I could figure out exactly what I want to do academically and professionally. When the opportunity to go to CM came, I was extremely happy. Community colleges in Connecticut do not have dorms, or athletics, so this is a great fit. I love the campus and I feel like I will get more attention from my instructors since the class sizes are small. Coach Morong has been recruiting me for almost two years now, and I am really looking forward to this new experience. I see the court very well and can setup my teammates when and where they want it. I might be little, but I am quick and I take chances. I love the game!"
Kinsey joins Kristen Huntress (Lake Region), Natalie Thurber (Wells), Jordyn Reynolds (Edward Little), and Cagney O'Brien (Lincoln Academy) in the Lady Mustangs 2017 recruiting class, which is expected to grow even deeper in the coming week or two.
