Central Maine Community College Head Men's Basketball Coach, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce the commitment of Robert Skinner, a graduate of Gilbert School in Winsted, Connecticut.
Coach Gonyea and Rob have been working on his transition to CM all summer. Rob is a major addition to the program after enjoying a very successful high school career. He was Gilbert High School's team's captain for three years and leaves the school as the second all-time leading scorer. He surpassed the 1,000 point mark in his junior year and received numerous league awards including league MVP.
Rob and his dad visited CM for a few days and offered the following, "What I really love about the campus is the fact everyone seems to treat each other like family. The culture of the program fits my personality. Joining a new team always opens up the door for new challenges and I look forward to just picking the brains of my coaches and learning as much as I can so I can help the team in any way. I am looking forward to building chemistry with my new teammates and all coming together to accomplish one goal. I am hopeful my leadership skills will help the program."
Coach Gonyea on Rob, "We have a huge hole at the point guard position. I think Rob has the skill set to step in and become a leader on and off the court. I love the way he shares the ball and takes command on the court. And frankly, he is a respectful young man who will fit in nicely with our new players. I can't wait to get going and watch him grow, develop and become a team leader."
