Central Maine Community College head basketball coach, Dave Gonyea, is pleased to announce Edwin Garcia, native of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico has signed on to play for the Mustangs for the upcoming season.
After spending some time with fellow Puerto Rican and former CM MVP Luis Medina, Edwin decided on CM.
According to Edwin, "I chose CM because I was given the opportunity to get an education and the principals to keep moving forward. The campus is small and I will get a chance to meet a lot of people. Playing college basketball will be a lot different because the American system is more man to man and not like we play in Puerto Rico, which is more matchup zones. I look forward to playing with people from around the world and being independent. I think I can bring a winning mentality and become a tough defensive player. "
Coach Gonyea on Garcia's commitment, "I am pleased Edwin will be joining us this year. We usually don't take kids who haven't visited the campus but I feel confident Luis has taken the time to educate Edwin about CM and our expectations. Everything I see and hear is positive regarding Edwin on and off the court."
