South Portland, ME – Brady Vincent stole home in the second inning and the Mustangs pitching staff combined to strike out 16 of 27 Seawolves batters, as CMCC nabbed a 3-0 win on the road in nine innings.

"The pitching was very good today," head coach Ryan Palmer said. "We left a few more runners on base than we should have. We had to grind it out but it was a good team win."

Central Maine played a little small ball to manufacture a lead in the top of the second inning. Brady Vincent singled on a ground ball through the gap into left field. After moving over to third base on an error, the Mustangs executed a double steal sending Hayden Durrell to second and allowing Vincent to come home with what proved to be the winning run. Durrell scored later in the inning on a sac-fly by Lee Robertson for a 2-0 lead.

In the fifth, Ryan Stone reached on an error, Vincent walked, and Durrell was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Shane Jewett. The freshman from South Windsor, CT hit a grounder to third that plated Stone for the 3-0 advantage.

"It wasn't the type of game that makes the highlight reel," said Palmer. "But we got the runs that we needed to and it was enough."

Levi Tibbetts pitched seven strong innings for the Mustangs, striking out 13 and allowing just four hits and three walks in 121 total pitches. Jeff Meisner closed things out in the eighth and ninth, allowing just one hit and striking out the last two batters of the game to pick up the save.

CMCC improves to 5-1 with the victory in its first of a nine-game stretch on the road, that will include two doubleheaders in Canada against Concordia University and McGill University later this month. The Mustangs next take on York County CC on Friday, September 20th at 2:00 pm.
