The first ever Central Maine Community College Men's Lacrosse season has been delayed by a robust early Spring Nor'easter but the Mustangs continue to prepare.
This year's young squad will be led offensively by Erik Tiner and brother Brandon Tiner both of Lewiston. Erik was recently named CMCC's first ever Captain for his leadership and contagious love of the game. Last year Brandon was a finalist for the Travis Roy Award given to the State's best hockey player and was also an All-Conference midfielder for the Blue Devils. Ryan Lemelin (Lewiston) brings his toughness and strong dodging abilities to the midfield. Nick Record (Oxford Hills), Jama Ahmed (Lewiston) and Brandon Sevit (Edward Little) will provide plenty of speed up front for the Mustangs.
The defense will be anchored by veteran defenders Tyler Haskell (Lewiston) and Brandon Cote (Edward Little). The versatility of Abdi Osman and David Trembley (Lewiston) will be key in the development of this unit.
Alex Theriault (Oxford Hills) takes over in goal. His athleticism and mobility will be fun to watch as the season progresses.
Rookies Harlen Nahtygal (Princeton, WV) William Maiwan and Dat Mal (Khartoum, Sudan) Ben Levesque ( Marlow, N.H ) Aaron Weston (Philadelphia, PA) Alex Lyons (Rochester N.H.) and Andrew Farrar (Lewiston) are improving daily and will contribute right away.
The Mustangs continue to be fully engaged in the process of establishing a culture of hard work and character. They realize that they are the pioneers, the pioneers laying a foundation on which future teams will build upon.
So let the snow melt and the games begin. Go Mustangs!
