Portsmouth, NH – The CMCC Golf team finished off its 2024 season Sunday afternoon at the YSCC Championships. Bryson Mattox and Brady Kilby competed for the Mustangs at the event hosted by Great Bay Community College at Pease Golf Course.
Mattox finished tied for 9th in the individual standings after shooting an 83 to finish the day 12 over par. Kilby was +19 with a round of 90 to finish tied for 17th in the 40-golfer field.
"I'm proud of how my guys did," said head coach Marc Gosselin. "They grinded out on a golf course they'd never seen before. They played extremely well, they just each had a couple holes that bit them at different points. But overall I'm very pleased with how they played against tough competition."
Quinn Dillon took the individual honors for SMCC by staying even with a 71 on his scorecard. He was four strokes up on Ryan Lai and Theo Hustler, both from UMaine-Augusta.
The Seawolves won the team championship with a best-four player total of 313. UMaine-Augusta finished second with a 322.
The conference awards were also handed out. The YSCC All-Conference team consisted of Quinn Dillon, Lucas Inman, and Owen Lee from SMCC and Ryan Lai and Theo Hustler from UMA. Dillon was YSCC Player of the Year. Coach of the Year honors were shared between Rob Bushey from Paul Smith's College and Scott Nevers from SMCC.
