Unity, ME- Shane Hurdle tallied a pair of goals and an assist to lead Central Maine Community College in a 4-2 win over Unity on Tuesday. Abdijabar Hersi and Mahad Osman each scored in the first half to give the Mustangs a 2-1 lead at the break. Casey Wong added a pair of assists for the Mustangs (1-1). Brian Mills turned aside eight shots in net and Yussuf Shinio paced a sold defensive effort. Patrick Hunt registered both goals for the Rams (0-3).

9/9/2008 Mustangs Down Rams 4-2
            The Central Maine Community College soccer team played their second game of the season Tuesday against Unity College. CMCC came out playing very well and quickly jumped out to a two goal lead. First to score was Abdijabar Hersi (Lewiston, ME), who quickly converted after receiving a pass from Mahad Osman (Lewiston, ME) ten minutes into the game. Twelve minutes later, Mahad Osman) netted his own goal after collecting a rebound from a Shane Hurdle (Auburn, ME) shot. A header from Unity?s Patrick Hunt cut the CMCC lead in half with only ninety seconds left to go before halftime.  

Unity drew even when they scored to open the second half with a breakaway goal. Central Maine striker Shane Hurdle responded ten minutes later after receiving a beautiful through ball from midfielder Casey Wong (Bath, ME). Minutes later Hurdle and Wong again connected on an identical play. The game finished 4-2 in favor of the Mustangs. CM goalkeeper Brian Mills (Scarborough, ME) played very well in the wet conditions collecting eight saves. Yussuf Shinio (Lewiston, ME) and Tyler Smithgall (Winthrop, ME) were solid defenders for CM who is now 1 - 1 for the season.
