Auburn, ME – Head Women's Basketball Coach, Andrew Morong, has announced the team's 30-game schedule for the 2017-18 season. As usual, the season will kick off with the annual Can-Am Tournament, with CM hosting the University of New Brunswick – St. John (Saturday, October 28th) and Cegep Champlain – St. Lawrence (Sunday, October 29th).
In addition to their Canadian opponents, the non-conference slate is full of USCAA and NJCAA foes. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by a trip to Albany, NY where CM will take on 2 teams that competed in the USCAA DII National Tournament last season; USCAA-power, Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and Villa Maria College. ACPHS has reached the USCAA National Tournament in each of the last 5 years, winning the national title in 2013 and finishing as the national runner-up in 2016. Villa Maria reached the semifinals in last year's national tourmament.
The Yankee Small College Conference schedule will be made up of 2 games apiece against, Southern Maine CC, UMaine-Augusta, NHTI, UMaine-Machias, Great Bay CC (NH), Paul Smith's College (NY), Vermont Tech, Hampshire College (MA), and Unity College.
According Coach Morong, "We think our schedule will prepare us to be playing our best basketball in February, and hopefully in March as well. We are playing a wide variety of teams, some of which we've never played, or at least haven't seen in a while, which is exciting. We have been working diligently in the offseason, and look forward to the challenges ahead."
