Softball Comes Up Short

CM took on rival SMCC after the Seawolves defeated EMCC in the semi-finals.  Back to back games for SMCC proved to be an advantage as the Sea wolfs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning. 

CM was down by 4 after the 5th inning, 8-4.  The Lady Mustangs made a charge in the 6th and tied the game 8-8.  SM brought 3 more across the plate to make the score 11-8 after the 6thNicena Walker crossed the plate one last time, but SM held on for the 11-9 victory.  CM earned its second consecutive Yankee Conference Runner-Up trophy. 

Nicena Walker threw the complete game, striking out 3.  Maggie McConky went 3 for 3 with 2 walks.  Laura Soohey went 2 for 4 with 1 walk.  Ashley Dorey was 2 for 3 and a walk. 

Nicena Walker batted 3 for 4 and was named the offensive player of the tournament.
